One person is dead and another is critically injured after crashing into a utility pole during a police chase early Saturday morning, Fort Worth police said in a statement.
Around 2:40 a.m. officers observed a vehicle driving the wrong way on Exchange Avenue. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, and the occupants failed to comply, made a u-turn and fled the location, the statement said.
Police shared the vehicle’s information with officers in the area. Minutes later, it was located, and another official attempted a traffic stop.
The vehicle fled again, lost control and crashed into a utility pole near the 1500 block of East 4th Street, the statement said.

An unresponsive passenger was extracted from the vehicle, and after receiving medical aid from officers, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was transported to a hospital. As of Saturday afternoon, the driver remains in critical condition.
