Thessalon man faces multiple charges after Friday night stop on Highways 17 and 129
A 41-year-old Thessalon man is facing multiple charges after the East Algoma OPP say they pulled over an ATV that was attempting to avoid police.
The incident occurred last night at approximately 8 p.m. near Highway 17 and Highway 129.
Shawn Turcotte, 41, is charged with:
- Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code – five counts
- Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
- Driving while under suspension
- Drive non-passenger ATV with a passenger – two counts
- Fail to drive in same direction as traffic
He was scheduled to appear in bail court today.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Turcotte is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
