Nicholas Hoult has been in the business long enough that he rarely gets starstruck — unless he’s meeting Brad Pitt.

During the latest episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, the Superman villain recalled meeting the F1 actor at the Venice Film Festival. Hoult said he “stuttered” while in Pitt’s presence, adding it was one of the few times he felt starstruck.

“He’s also just given, for me, so many iconic brilliant performances,” Hoult said.  “I was like, oh, you had things you could have said to him, but my brain wasn’t working. I just stood there like a lemon.”

Pitt had also complimented Hoult for his performance as Catherine the Great’s husband Peter on The Great.

“He’d seen The Great and really liked it, and then was just like, ‘Hey, the show’s really funny. You’re funny,'” Hoult said. “He was pretty lovely.”

Pitt recently shared his own story about being starstruck, a feeling that is similarly rare for the A-lister. He said that he was in awe after meeting his Thelma & Louise costars Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis, although he got over it pretty quickly.
