A 6-year-old boy died Monday afternoon after the child was found unresponsive in a pool in east Fort Worth, police said in a statement.

Officials responded to reports of a water emergency in the 8200 block of Fall Crest Drive around 1:46 p.m., the statement said.

Once there, police located an unresponsive victim who had been found underwater in a pool. Police confirmed the victim was 6 years old.

The boy was rushed to a hospital and pronounced dead by medical staff, the statement said.
