Departures leaving and arriving at Sky Harbor are estimated to be delayed by about 30 minutes, according to the FAA.

PHOENIX — A ground stop was issued Thursday afternoon at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport due to thunderstorm activity in the Valley.

The Federal Aviation Administration ordered for flights to be grounded until 1:45 p.m.

Over 100 flight delays are listed on the Sky Harbor website as of 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 8.

The FAA said departures leaving and arriving at Sky Harbor are estimated to be delayed by about 30 minutes.

Scattered storms have popped up across the Phoenix metro area and are expected to linger around until the early evening, according to the National Weather Service.
