Chicago's St. Ignatius HS cancels classes Friday due to bomb threat

CHICAGO (WLS) — St. Ignatius high school canceled school Friday due to a bomb threat, the Catholic school said.

School officials said the school received a robot-generated phone call Thursday night with threatening language about several bombs on campus.

Chicago police arrived about 11 p.m. and swept the buildings and school with bomb-sniffing dogs, officials said.

The FBI is also involved and was investigating the origin and nature of the call.

Law enforcement did not initially provide an update on if anything was located.

School and all activities were canceled out of an abundance of caution, school officials said.

Off-campus and capstone activities were expected to go on as planned.
