HOUSTON — Police in northwest Harris County had to take a pause from normal duties to deal with a few goats on the loose.

The initial call for backup was a little unusual, but you can tell the officer who called it in is an animal lover.

“Open grass field. They’re most likely going to stay there because of the grass, but the Sam Houston Parkway is right there, so I don’t want someone to hit them and cause a whole accident,” said a voice on police scanners.

The call about the four goats running around Equity Drive just off the Beltway came in just before 9 a.m. Friday. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office’s livestock unit came in to help. They tried to coax the little guys with food.

Ultimately, it turned into a chase in the parking lot and in a nearby wooded area with the deputies trying to tranquilize them. Luckily, it came to a safe ending for all involved. The goats were ultimately rounded up and put in a trailer. No word if they have made it back home yet.
