PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A suspect is in custody after a stolen U-Haul truck crashed into several vehicles during a pursuit Friday night in Philadelphia.
Police said the incident began around 5:45 p.m. when officers spotted the driver in Northeast Philadelphia. Officers initially chased the male driver but called off the pursuit due to safety concerns.
At some point after, police say the driver smashed into several cars – including an unmarked police vehicle – on Harbison Avenue in Mayfair.
No serious injuries were reported.
Officers briefly chased the truck again before calling off the pursuit a second time.
The U-Haul was later found abandoned at Ditman Street and Enfield Avenue in Holmesburg.
Police tracked down a suspect shortly afterward. He has not been identified but is expected to face numerous charges, including assault on a police officer.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police.
