The crew behind Williamsburg restaurant Cozy Royale is opening a new Greenpoint neighborhood bar in March. The Peek Inn, at 38 Driggs Avenue at Sutton Street, comes from Brent Young of the Meat Hook and his business partner Mike Haigis, who have signed a lease on a corner space formerly occupied by Fin Du Monde.

The 450-square-foot spot will have food, but due to hood limitations, “no burgers and fries,” Young tells Eater. It’s neither a dive bar nor a cocktail bar, he says: It’s a nod to the neighborhood bars he grew up with around in Pittsburgh and Haigis knew in New England. Expect beer-and-a-shot type offerings, and a “beertini” served with olives and brine — “it tastes like beer and the ocean,” says Young. They’re still working out the food menu, but there will likely be steamed dogs smothered in onions or topped with jalapeños.

The space marks Young’s sixth business, following his three butcher shops, Cozy Royale, and Hudson Diner (a partnership with Mel the Bakery that opened upstate in June). The Peek Inn follows Cozy Royale as the team’s second “weird offbeat corner” location — this one a 24-seat space named not for lodging but a nickname for Haigis’s dog. The bar will open around the corner from Border Town, from former Meat Hook partner Ben Turley, along with Jorge Aguilar, and Amanda Rosa; it’s known for its flour tortillas and breakfast tacos at pop-ups, which is also set to open soon.
