Pivot Pilates opened late last year at 1995 Broadway (at 68th Street), offering both group and private sessions for “All ages, all levels, all abilities,” according to the studio’s website. “Premier Pilates studio featuring group classes, private sessions, wellness workshops, and curated retail boutique – operating as both a fitness studio and wellness social club for the local community.”

Craft Pilates is opening soon at 644 Amsterdam Avenue (between 91st and 92nd streets); they’re targeting February, according to the studio’s website.  They offer both group classes and private sessions, and this will be the business’ second location (their first is in Park Slope, Brooklyn). Thanks to Kim Oppenheimer for the tip.

Playgarden Prep will have its grand opening at 601 Amsterdam Avenue (at West 89th Street) on Saturday, January 10 (details here). The preschool and early learning center was founded in 2007 in Tribeca and has two additional locations on the Upper East Side. “By developing innovative programs tailored to the different educational stages of childhood, and through our team members’ love for early education, we strive to help children grow and thrive,” reads Playgarden’s website.

Natural Pilates is opening a location at 2091 Broadway (between 72nd and 73rd streets) this month, the studio announced late last year, and is currently offering some discounted early memberships. Natural Pilates has NYC locations in Soho and on the UES (with another planned for Flatiron), as well as in Florida and California. “Natural Pilates® offers an athletic approach to classical Pilates choreography,” the website states. “Our attention to detail and focus on form paired coupled with level-appropriate resistance will activate and engage your muscles for a full-body burn, building strength and improving mobility. The class programming style and the intention in movement will increase body awareness.”

Dough Doughnuts recently had its soft-opening at 133 West 72nd Street (between Columbus and Amsterdam avenues). They now have seven locations, including an Upper East Side outpost that opened about a year ago. Dough Doughnuts is known for both its permanent and rotating, seasonal menu. In addition to its classic Glazed and Nutella flavors, Dough also offers doughnut connoisseurs year-round options like Hibiscus, Passion Fruit and Blueberry Lemon.

Signage is up for a new Wendy’s at 2565 Broadway (between 96th and 97th streets). The national burger chain has eleven locations dispersed throughout the city, but none currently on the UWS.

We also received the following tips from Dave Cook at Eating In Translation:

A Georgian restaurant and bakery called Ghemo will be opening at 2o1 West 106th Street (between Broadway and Amsterdam). The owners also appear to have a catering company, as depicted on this Instagram page. We’ve contacted them for confirmation and details.

Signage is also up at 998 Amsterdam Avenue (between 109th and 110th streets) for Mr. Byrdie’s Joint. We weren’t able to find a website or social media account tied to this business, but we’ll provide an update if and when we learn more.
