A new boat cruising experience will soon come to Tempe Town Lake thanks to a partnership involving the city of Tempe. The venture, known as Tempe Boat Cruisin’, provides trips that give up to 26 guests the chance to ride on a cycle boat on the reservoir.
The team behind Arizona Party Bike, a local entertainment service, helped set the experience up.
The cycle boats are described as a hybrid between a party bike and a boat. Each vehicle provides pedals for guests to move the craft. However, a professional captain and a crew operate the boats.

The collaboration comes as a way for the city to provide further recreational activities.
Arizona Party Bike Founder Robert Mayer says the boats could make for a fun experience for birthday celebrations or a company happy hour.
“You’ll have a couple of different options for booking. You can book a private party where it would just be your group on board. I will also have some public cruises available,” he said.
He says the goal is to get people to access the lake.
“It’s the only urban lake in the entire Valley. It’s the only way that people can easily enjoy the water within a 15-20 minute drive almost anywhere in the Valley,” he said.
Mayer says the costs are yet to be finalized but says the service may cost anywhere from between $49 and $59.
An inaugural launch is set to take place in mid-January with services opening to the public towards the end of the month.
