Ah, they learned the magic trick; the New York Rangers don’t have their sheshcurity blanket!
But First, The Highlights!
Game Notes
- Your TOI leader was Ryan Lindgren, who logged 22:12
- What a difference a period can make, huh? The Kraken were frankly pretty slow and sloppy to start the game, which the Rangers took ample advantage of. Mercifully, the Rangers are a team that seems to struggle mightily with any kind of backchecking whatsoever, and the Kraken had already figured they could get some chances on Quick if they stretched their defense out and forced them to take the boards. This allowed them to slowly work their way back into the game by attacking that particular weakness…as well as the inevitable one that Jonathan Quick has in his butterfly style. Really, this could have been so much more lopsided if the Kraken could capitalize on their 2-on-1’s, because man…those Blueshirts are BAD at it.
- So hey Berkly Catton’s got 4 points in 4 games and is currently on a goalscoring streak. That’s a fun little development!
- Odd little night for both sides in the PK/PP: both sides went 0-for-2. good for the penalty kill, maybe less than ideal night for the power play that’s been getting their act together. Oh well.
- Poor Shane Wright. All the world thought the goal that got the Kraken up in this game was his. He’ll get out of it.
- We got a little bit of Grubauer’s old quirks, but he otherwise figured himself out! For how this game started? This was a major improvement for him to settle down and get himself together instead of spiral.
- I am eternally haunted by Carson Soucy. The former Kraken got a secondary assist from the Mika Zibanejad goal.
Let’s give a hand to…
- Eeli Tolvanen, who got the opening goal on crashing the net from a fantastic pass from Frederic Gaudreau!
- Jordan Eberle tied the game with an absolute bullet of a shot that was created by Kaapo Kakko; who pulled just about everybody in a blue shirt to him.
- Shane Wright and Berkly Catton, who crashed the net and finally got the Kraken up on the Rangers!
- Jared McCann, who got the empty netter to almost certainly create a rush of furious New Yorkers.
- Philipp Grubauer, who locked in after New York’s second goal, recovered fantastically, and finished his night with a .909 SV%, and stopping 20 shots!
