A man shot and killed a suspected intruder in Fort Worth after he allegedly attempted to enter his locked garage, police said.
FORT WORTH, Texas — A man was shot and killed in Fort Worth on Monday after he allegedly attempted to enter a homeowner’s locked garage, police said.
Officers responded around 6 a.m., Monday, Jan. 12, to a shooting call in the 3400 block of Ave. L, the Fort Worth Police Department said in a press release. When police arrived, they found a man lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his torso, the release states. He was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
Detectives identified the suspect, who told police he heard and saw the victim attempting to enter his locked garage, the release states.
The suspect told police that he confronted the man and told him to leave the property, police said. The man then came aggressively toward the suspect, who then fired multiple shots at the man, the release states.
The deceased man left the scene but collapsed nearby, police said.
Fort Worth police did not immediately identify the victim or the suspect.
The suspect called 911 to report the shooting and is cooperating with the investigation, the release states. No charges have been filed, but the incident is under investigation, police said.
