ALTADENA, Calif. — A now-infamous bear that made headlines after taking over the crawl space of an Altadena, California home for months made residence under two more homes in the area.

The bear, known as Yellow 2120, made its way into the homeowner’s crawl space under his kitchen around Thanksgiving and had been there ever since.

An Altadena man got a big surprise when he found a 500-pound bear had made the narrow crawl space under his home a den for the winter.

Last week, the BEAR League from Lake Tahoe traveled to the area to help the Altadena homeowner remove the bear using paintballs to scare him out of the crawl space. They then placed an electrified doormat to block the entrance.

Before the BEAR League stepped in, California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) crews tried multiple times to get the bear out, but the animal kept coming back.

On Tuesday, the nonprofit shared that the bear went into the crawl space of another Altadena home after being evicted. He stayed there for one day before moving to a third home.

The BEAR League also assisted the third family, placing the electrical mats to spook the 550-pound black bear out of the area.

Yellow 21201 finally left after three days and has not returned, according to the nonprofit.
