Police have appealed for public assistance in finding a man who assaulted a woman who was walking her dog in Melbourne late last year.

The woman, 35, was walking her dog along the footpath of Riversdale Road, Hawthorn, at about 10.30pm on November 20, 2025.

She was approached by an unknown man as she reached the corner of Kooyongkoot Road.

The man demanded money from her, then punched her and fled on foot.

The woman sustained minor injuries.

The man was last seen running east on Riversdale Road towards Camberwell.

He is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged in his 40s, 180cm tall, of medium build, with short, dark hair, and brown, glazed eyes.

He was wearing a black hoodie, dirty light grey pants, and no shoes at the time of the assault.

Police have released a computer-generated image of a man they believe could aid the investigation.
