The Philadelphia Eagles saw their NFL season end with a whimper last weekend, falling to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.
Problems clearly existed for the Eagles all year, so the fact that they were bounced in the opening round of the postseason should not come as a surprise to anyone.

Significant changes are likely coming, too. We’ve already seen Philadelphia fire offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, and the general consensus is that A.J. Brown has played his last game in the City of Brotherly Love.
There was even some speculation late in the season that the Eagles could consider trading Jalen Hurts, but that obviously isn’t happening.
That doesn’t necessarily mean Philadelphia won’t make any other quarterback trades, though.
In fact, ESPN’s Aaron Schatz has predicted that Philly will swing a quarterback deal with the Miami Dolphins, projecting the Eagles to send Tanner McKee to the Dolphins in exchange for a mid-round draft pick.

“The quarterback factory spits out another trade, as the Eagles will deal QB2 Tanner McKee to the Dolphins in exchange for a middle-round pick,” Schatz wrote. “Somehow, this deal eventually gets folded into another team-saving trade just before November’s trade deadline.”

General manager Howie Roseman has done a tremendous job of stockpiling mid-round selections over the years, which gives Philadelphia plenty of flexibility on the trade market.
We just saw Roseman trade a third-rounder for edge rusher Jaelan Phillips back at the deadline. Ironically enough, that deal was also with Miami.
McKee has a rather big fan club in Philly, and some were even calling for him to take over as starting quarterback amid Hurts’ struggles in 2025.
The Stanford product was originally selected by the Eagles in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft and has made two starts in his career, most recently doing so in Week 18 when he went 21-for-40 with 241 yards, a touchdown and an interception in a loss to the Washington Commanders.

So long as Hurts is around, McKee will likely never get the chance to have a full-time role in Philadelphia, so a trade might be best for the 25-year-old, especially considering that there is a huge opportunity in South Beach at the moment.
