This year’s flower show will coincide with the 250th birthday of America and will commemorate the people, places, and legacies that have shaped gardening throughout the history of the nation. Visitors can expect to see innovative designs and spectacular botanical artistry that honors gardeners, cultures, and landscapes.
“We are America’s garden capital, with more public gardens than any other place in America, and America’s oldest botanical garden, Bartram’s Garden in southwest Philly,” said Pennsylvania Horticultural Society President Matt Rader to CBS Philadelphia. “This is the home of American horticulture, and the flower show is our invitation to the world to join us here.”
“This year’s Flower Show feels especially personal because every plant or garden carries a story behind it. We all have memories tied to plants and ‘Rooted: Origins of American Gardening’ is about sharing those diverse experiences and the ways they connect us. It will be a show filled with memory, meaning, and incredible creativity,” said Seth Pearsoll, vice president and creative director of the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, to NBC10 Philadelphia.
