HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — An investigation is underway after a woman was shot to death in northwest Houston on Friday night, according to Houston police.
HPD Lieutenant Larry Crowson says that officers responded to the shooting at 8 p.m. in the 6200 block of W. Tidwell near Lumberdale Road. Upon arrival, police say that officers found a woman with a gunshot wound and three children including a 6-year-old boy, 6-year-old girl, and an 8-year-old girl inside the apartment.
Police say that the woman was transported in critical condition, but was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The children are safe after being rescued by a HPD rescue unit, according to police.
According to law enforcement, there were casings in the parking lot that suggest someone fired into the apartment from outside, but police are also being told the shooting happened inside.
Crowson called the scene a confusing crime scene after receiving conflicting information about what led up to the shooting.
Police say that nobody is in custody.
