LAPD now barred from using rubber bullets during protests

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — The Los Angeles Police Department can no longer fire rubber bullets when confronting protests.

The move comes after a years-long lawsuit that was filed by Black Lives Matter Los Angeles following the demonstrations that occurred in 2020 over the murder of George Floyd.

The lawsuit argued that rubber bullets were not meant to disperse crowds but instead to “incapacitate a target.”

Now, the LAPD is prohibited from using rubber bullets as a crowd control tool moving forward.

This is a developing story. This article will continue to be updated as more information becomes available.
