THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – A Bronx woman is accused of starving her teenage twin sons for years.
Lissette Soto-Domenech, 64, was charged Tuesday with assault, reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child, endangering the welfare of a disabled person, and other charges, according to court documents.
The boys allegedly weighed under 55 pounds when removed from her care, according to court documents obtained by PIX11 News. Domenech is accused of starving her twin sons and keeping them virtually housebound for nine years, significantly stunting their development, Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark said.
“This defendant is accused of a shocking, horrifying form of child abuse, allegedly depriving her sons of proper food, social interaction, education, and medical attention,” Clark said. “We will do everything we can to help these boys attain a normal life.”
From 2016 to 2025, Soto-Domenech had “depreaved indifference to human life,” according to court documents.
The defendant, Soto-Domenech, allegedly stopped taking her sons to the doctor in 2017 and began submitting false documents to the New York City Department of Education, claiming she was homeschooling them. During those years, while the boys were in her care, the abuse occurred, according to an investigation.
In Oct. 2025, anonymous complaints led a child protective specialist to call 911 after visiting the home. The victims were severely malnourished—one weighed 51 pounds, the other 54, according to documents.
An investigation revealed that one of the boys is autistic and had apparently never undergone an evaluation. The apartment contained only infant cereal, baby bottles, and toddler toys, with no food or possessions suitable for children of their age, according to documents.
The victims were taken to a local hospital, where they received care for three months.
Soto-Domenech is due back in court in Feb. 2026.
