Snail Mail has announced her third album, Ricochet. It’s the follow-up to 2021’s Valentine, and due out on March 27 via Matador. She recorded it with producer and bassist Aron Kobayashi Ritch of Momma, and says the sessions felt “refreshing, trusting, and comfortable.” “I’ve never done this before, but I wrote all of the instrumentals and vocal melodies on the piano or guitar, and then I filled in the lyrics all at once over a year,” she adds. See the cover art and tracklist below, and pre-order it on red vinyl in the BV shop.

The first single is the alt rock-inspired “Dead End,” which is accompanied by a video she directed with Elsie Richter. “We shot the video for ‘Dead End’ in random places all around rural North Carolina between the hours of 5pm and 4am on one of the coldest nights of my life,” she says. “The goal was to be inconspicuous with the fireworks, but someone called the cops on us.” Watch below.

Snail Mail also announced a spring North American tour, beginning on April 10 in Milwaukee and wrapping up with Kilby Block Party in May. Sharp Pins, Avalon Emerson and The Charm, @, Swirlies, Armlock, and Rocket each open select shows, and you can see all dates below.

The NYC show is at Brooklyn Paramount on April 15 with Sharp Pins and @. Tickets to that and all dates go on sale Friday, January 23 at 10 AM local time.
