More than 330 employees are expected to be laid off by March 20 in Washington state, according to a 60-day notice.
SEATTLE — Facebook’s parent company Meta plans to lay off more than 300 employees in the state, according to a 60-day notice that was filed.
It’s part of a larger cut to jobs. Meta confirmed 1,500 jobs will be cut in its “reality labs division” nationwide.
According to the notice filed in Washington, 331 employees here will lose their jobs by March 20. Of those, 105 work in Redmond, 89 in Bellevue, 40 in Seattle and 97 are remote employees across the state.
Augmented reality was a big part of Facebook’s rebranding to Meta in 2021.
However, the company lost of tens of billions of dollars in its efforts to build the “Metaverse.”
Meta is reportedly shifting resources into advanced AI and wearable products like glasses.
