A blast of cold air is on its way to the Chicago area later this week, after some more snow is expected Wednesday.

An Extreme Cold Watch is set to go into effect from 3 a.m. until noon Friday for the Chicago area.

A burst of light snow is expected between 6 and 10 p.m. Wednesday.

There is a Winter Weather Advisory for Kenosha, Racine and Walworth counties until 11 p.m.

Wind speeds will be increasing Wednesday night into Thursday, as well.

On Friday, wind chills could be as low as 30 to 35 below zero.

That could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

Metra will operate a reduced schedule on all its lines Friday.

The South Shore Line will also operate on a weekend/holiday schedule Friday.

Saturday will also be very cold, and some snow is possible Saturday night into Sunday.
