  • July 10, 2025

SAN ANTONIO – A 5-year-old boy was found dead on Wednesday inside a vehicle outside a preschool on the West Side, according to San Antonio police.

The boy, later identified as Aiden Martinez, was found on Wednesday afternoon in the 400 block of Carson Hill Drive, near Potranco Road.

SAPD Chief William McManus said the boy’s mother would typically drop the child off at Pinnacle Kids Academy and then drive to work nearby.

The mother told police that she thought she had dropped Aiden off at the preschool. However, McManus said she went to work with the boy inside the car.

McManus said the woman drove to the preschool to pick up Aiden, but he was inside the vehicle the entire time.

Aiden was found dead in the vehicle’s back seat, according to McManus. He had been in the vehicle since early Wednesday morning.

Detectives are investigating whether the mother accidentally or intentionally left the boy in the vehicle, McManus said.

McManus briefed reporters regarding the investigation, which can be watched below:

This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.
