The Columbus Book Festival returns this weekend for two days of literary celebration.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Book Festival is back for its third chapter this weekend, promising two full days of literary celebration, family fun and community spirit in the heart of downtown.

Hosted by the Columbus Metropolitan Library, the beloved event takes place Saturday, July 12, and Sunday, July 13, at the Main Library at 96 S. Grant Ave. and the surrounding Topiary Park.


Festival days and hours

July 12 — 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

July 13 — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.


What to expect

Whether you’re an avid reader, a casual page-flipper or just looking for a fun, family-friendly weekend event, there’s something for everyone at this year’s festival.

Meet national and local authors — Headliners include Amal El-Mohtar, Gregg Hurwitz, Anna Todd and Victoria Christopher Murray.

Some author talks have limited seating. Tickets are required for guaranteed access, so check ahead for availability.

Indie Author Alley — Support local talent in the Indie Author tent, where central Ohio’s own storytellers will showcase and sign their work.

Literary gifts — Visitors can also shop around for bookish themed gifts.

Entertainment — From bluegrass string bands to dance groups, you can find more than a dozen different activities happening throughout the weekend festival.

Family friendly program and children’s authors — This event is for book lovers of all ages and even offers activities for kids like face painting, a Columbus Crew soccer zone, lawn games and several read aloud events.

Getting there: Parking & transportation

  • Hop on Lines 10 or 11 for direct access to the Main Library.
  • Use a Park and Ride location if you’re coming from farther out.
  • The Main Library parking garage offers free event parking.
  • Surface lots around Topiary Park will also be free, courtesy of Discovery District businesses — just follow the “Free Book Festival Parking” signs.
  • Additional paid garages and metered street parking are available downtown.
