JSO Sgt. M.W. Highfill said the woman’s adult son was with her in the home when she became unresponsive and was interviewed.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a woman found unresponsive by officers Friday night at a home near Ed Austin Regional Park.
According to JSO Sgt. M.W. Highfill, around 8:05 p.m., officers responded to a home located in the 4200 block of Blenheim Place in reference to the woman who was unresponsive.
Upon arrival, officers reportedly found the woman in a bedroom inside the residence. Members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department then responded to the home and pronounced the woman deceased, Highfill said.
“What we know now is that the victim was inside the residence with her adult son when she became unresponsive,” Highfill told First Coast News. “The son is being interviewed and cooperating with the investigation. The case is currently being classified as an undetermined death.”
JSO did not share whether or not foul play is suspected in the woman’s death, as the investigation is active. Highfill said detectives with JSO’s Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit are conducting the investigation.
