Veterans sought for coalition
The city of El Cajon is looking for veterans to join its Veterans Coalition, an advisory group that addresses the needs of local veterans and their families. The coalition’s duties include advising city staff on veterans issues, selecting the annual Veteran of the Year and contributing to the maintenance of the city’s veterans memorial. The term is one year with quarterly meetings. The coalition is open to active-duty, reservists, and honorably discharged members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Deadline to apply is Feb. 6. ‘Kites Over Vista’ seeks artists
The Vista Public Arts Commission is now accepting artist proposals for “Kites Over Vista,” a temporary public art installation in downtown Vista. Through a juried selection process, up to six artists will be chosen and given a stipend. Artists must deliver kite models to the Recreation and Community Services Department, 200 Civic Center Drive, by 5 p.m. Feb. 17. Final selections will be made at the March 3 Public Arts Commission meeting, with City Council consideration scheduled for March 24. Completed artworks must be ready for installation by May 1.
