Tiffanie Spencer, Mansfield ISD’s area superintendent of administration, is the lone finalist to be the top schools leader after a unanimous board vote Jan. 31.
Spencer now must wait a state-mandated 21 days before trustees can formally hire her as a superintendent. She’ll replace Kimberley Cantu who announced her retirement in August after seven years as superintendent.
Board President Benita Reed said in a release that trustees are confident Spencer can advance Mansfield ISD’s mission.
“Throughout this process, Dr. Spencer consistently demonstrated a clear vision for student success, a deep respect for educators, and a strong alignment with the values of the Mansfield ISD community,” Reed wrote.
Spencer has worked in education for 21 years. She started her career as a teacher in Fort Worth ISD in 2005 before joining Mansfield in 2012 as an associate principal. She later became a principal.
In 2019, she joined Duncanville ISD as the executive director of teaching and learning and then returned to Mansfield in 2022.
Spencer said in the release she was excited to be named the lone finalist.
“Mansfield is a district with a strong reputation, a proud community, and a clear commitment to students,” Spencer said. “I look forward to partnering with the board, staff, families, and community members to build upon that foundation and ensure every student is prepared for success now and in the future.”
