Syracuse, N.Y. — A Massachusetts man is facing a federal charge after he allegedly stabbed a State Police investigator last week in Syracuse.
Cedric Cundiff, 67, was charged with assaulting a federal officer. The investigator was deputized at the time as a member of a U.S. Marshals Service task force.
Cundiff is also facing state charges, including second-degree assault, in connection with the incident.
The task force went to 2000 Lodi St. on Syracuse’s North Side last Thursday to try to arrest Cundiff. He is wanted on multiple charges in Massachusetts, including robbery and assault.
Cundiff barricaded himself inside a bedroom when officers approached him, FBI agent John Honan said in an affidavit.
The investigator attempted to slide open a pocket door to get to Cundiff, Hogan said. Cundiff used a knife to puncture the investigator’s glove, Hogan said, leaving him with a cut on the left palm and a slice wound to the pinky finger.
Cundiff is scheduled to return to court Wednesday in his state case.
