Communion: Four new summer cocktails are now available at Communion in Mission Hills. The echo chamber contains a Japanese whiskey, an herbal liqueur, lemon, plum and rooibos. The house rules cocktail is Communion’s signature dirty martini with choice of dry gin or vodka, extra dry vermouth and a house-made spicy brine. The pink matter is a blend of tequila, an herbal liqueur, strawberries, grapefruit and lime. The smoke in the grass mixes together mezcal, lemongrass, calamansi, basil, lime and a splash of coconut soda. Rubio’s: Children can get free meals and adults can sample new summer dishes at Rubio’s. Three new menu items are now available during the summer: a taco, an island bowl and a churro. The new fish taco is made with Alaska pollock, cabbage, a Tajín pineapple salsa and a lime crema on a flour tortilla. The bowl is offered with a choice of chicken, steak or seafood and topped with rice, guacamole, cabbage, pineapple salsa, wasabi crema and soy sauce. Restaurant Week: San Diego’s Restaurant Week has announced its list of restaurants for 2025. More than 100 businesses in 30 San Diego County neighborhoods will be participating.
