SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — The WM Phoenix Open lived up to its rowdy reputation this weekend, with police reporting dozens of arrests and nearly 1,100 traffic stops, according to data released Monday.
According to the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, authorities conducted 1,091 traffic stops between Thursday and Saturday, with the help of 136 officers and deputies.
The data showed there were a total of 109 DUI arrests made, 23 of which were for “extreme DUI,” involving a blood alcohol content (BAC) level of .15 or above.
Tourists apparently had a need for speed, too. Cops handed out 113 civil speeding citations and 26 criminal speeding tickets.
State officials said there were 41 other arrests made for undisclosed reasons, and four people were ticketed for drinking under the age of 21.
How does this compare to previous years?
While Scottsdale police have not yet publicly released information on arrests, ejections and trespasses on the course, the number of arrests appears to line up similarly to those made in 2024 and 2025. Though it’s important to note that in 2025, Scottsdale PD reported a record number of calls for service.
