Kroger is closing another store in North Texas — and this one is in Dallas County.

The grocer shuttered a store earlier this week in Garland, according to John Votava, spokesperson for the company. Kroger lists two other stores in the city on its website.

The Kroger store “had initiated the closure process in May,” Votava said in an emailed statement. “Since all employees had already been placed elsewhere and all merchandise sold through, we closed the store.”

The closure of the store, located at 532 W. Interstate 30, comes after North Texans learned last month it would be shuttering a site in McKinney at 1707 W. University Drive. That is set for August, Votava said.

Kroger, battling rivals such as Walmart and H-E-B, is streamlining its store lineup while it pushes for more efficiency. The company said last month it was closing roughly 60 stores over the next 18 months, while adding it is committed to reinvesting the savings back into the “customer experience.”

It’s not the only grocer shaking up its lineup. In recent months, Tom Thumb, part of Albertsons, revealed it was closing a Plano store and also a site in Allen.

Kroger CEO Ron Sargent said during a conference call last month the company should accelerate store openings in 2026 and beyond. The company is on track to complete 30 major store projects in 2025.

Locally, the company, which has been opening new stores, held a groundbreaking last month in the Sendera Ranch neighborhood of North Fort Worth.
