PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A tip led Port St. Lucie Police to the arrest of a wanted New York man on the run from alleged child sex crimes.
In conjunction with the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force, the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) busted 36-year-old Thomas Poole, who was on the run from Suffolk County for multiple sex offenses against a minor.
Master Sergeant Dominick Mesiti described how they worked with federal authorities to make the arrest.
“Our detective, along with the task force, set up surveillance, verified that, in fact, Mr. Poole was here locally, and then they effected that and served the arrest warrant earlier this morning with the assistance of our K-9 team,” said Mesiti.
“PSLPD is committed to protecting our children and our law-abiding citizens, no matter where they are,” PSLPD said in a statement on Facebook.

Suffolk County requested PSLPD’s assistance after receiving a tip that Poole may be in Florida hiding out, according to a PSLPD press release.
He was tracked down to the 2000 block of Pyramid Road in Port St. Lucie, where police say he was taken into custody without incident.
“It’s a great relationship to have because not only is it our local agency, but there are other local agencies that do participate in the task force. It just shows how we collaborate together to get these types of felons off the street and make the community safer,” said Mesiti.
Poole is in custody at St. Lucie County Jail and is set to be extradited back to New York, per officers.
