Both suspects are charged with first-degree murder and aggravated vehicular hijacking, among other charges. Police have not released the 17-year-old’s name, because he is a minor.
The two allegedly carried out two murders and multiple carjackings on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
Police said it all started when the suspects carjacked and fatally shot a man in the Lakeview neighborhood’s 700-block of West Waveland just before 4 a.m.
Darwin Tirado, 22, was the man shot and killed, family members say. Another man inside the car, a 38-year-old, was not injured.
Less than one hour later, the suspects shot and killed 45-year-old Damon Kellum in the Oakland neighborhood’s 3700-block of South Lake Park Avenue, officials said.
