Viktor Gyokeres is in the Arsenal fans’ good books after a brilliant second-half double downed Tottenham in the North London derby.
After coming under fire throughout the season, Gyokeres has turned things around in recent weeks.
A string of good performances and crucially, goals, have propelled the Swede to Arsenal’s number one choice up front and his double against Spurs was brilliant.

Hitting form at the right time, Gyokeres now has the chance to make a big mark. He’s now hit 15 goals in all competitions and will have eyes firmly on the 20-25 mark.
Indeed, according to Danny Murphy, Gyokeres will have altered the opinions of many today.
Danny Murphy on why Viktor Gyokeres deserves credit
If you’re Viktor Gyokeres right now, you’re looking at the last few weeks as a real turning point in your Arsenal career.

In fact, assessing Gyokeres’ overall performance, former Premier League midfielder Danny Murphy suggested he has now changed the minds of some Arsenal fans.
“Some Arsenal fans are split on Viktor Gyokeres some backing him and some saying he is not the one. That performance today is going to change a few minds,” Murphy commented for the BBC.
“As a player it doesn’t matter how much success you have had or what you have done before before, if you had a bad spell or you know people are doubting you it creeps in. Today can only do good things for him. Physically it looked like he was enjoying it. He will be walking on water now.
“He has competition for places, but after that performance it’s easy for Arteta. I think we could see him go on a good little run now.”
Viktor Gyokeres is a successful signing and it can’t be denied
For all the negative comments and opinions from some Arsenal fans – including even up to half-time today – Gyokeres has been a good signing.
There is just no doubting it. He has 15 goals, Arsenal look a better team when he plays, and he’s now doing what he was signed to do, which is score goals and make life hard for defenders.

Unlike a lot of Arsenal players in recent years, Gyokeres seems to relish the physical battle of going up against defenders. The harder they try to bully him, the better he seemingly becomes.
If Gyokeres didn’t score a goal between now and the end of the season – which is unlikely – he is still a good signing and even the most stubborn of Arsenal fans would have to admit that now.
