Newcomers contend with acting veterans in the search for the next James Bond. Joining the list of 007 candidates is Scott Rose-Marsh, a breakout fan favorite at online betting sites.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson is still favored to become the next 007 (per Oddschecker), but a lesser-known actor just joined the betting slots. Scott Rose-Marsh is a relative newcomer, but his prospects are promising. As of Jul. 12, Rose-Marsh’s odds are 11/8 at Betfair, better than Taylor-Johnson’s 2 and Henry Cavill’s 1/10. Rose-Marsh only has a handful of minor roles to his credit, most recently in 2022’s Wolves of War and TV’s The Outlaws. To date, no actor has been confirmed as an official Bond candidate.

‘They Know Where to Find Me’: Pierce Brosnan Doubles Down on Desire to Return as James Bond
Accalmed actor Pierce Brosnan once again sets his sights on a second run as 007 in the James Bond franchise.
Theo James, Tom Holland, Paddy Gibson, Jack Lowden, and Aaron Pierre are also frontrunners, the latter rumored as a serious contender for 007’s spot. The franchise has a history of casting relative unknowns to play Bond, like George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton. Daniel Craig and Sean Connery were already established actors when they were cast, but their careers skyrocketed after inheriting the role. That should improve Pierre, Gibson, and Rose Marsh’s odds.
There’s A Long List Of Actors Competing To Become The Next Bond
With director Denis Villeneuve confirmed to helm the 26th Bond installment, anticipation is at an all-time high for the casting. The untitled next film is projected for a 2028 release; insiders assert Amazon and producers prefer a British actor under 30 for the part (Rose-Marsh is 37); Holland and Harris Dickinson (both 29) are top contenders. That’s still to be confirmed, but if true, the requirement would put Taylor-Johnson and Cavill out of the running (they’re 35 and 42, respectively). Idris Elba, 52, has repeatedly dodged questions about his chances.

Every James Bond Live-Action Actor, Ranked
James Bond is one of the most iconic characters in cinema history, so it comes as no surprise that several high-profile actors have played the role.
Taylor-Johnson quickly dismissed reports that he was offered the part. Out of all the rumored contenders, Henry Golding was the most vocal. The Gentlemen actor said that he’s all in to take on the mantle, or to play another 00 agent character. “I think [Bond is] every actor’s kind of nightmare,” he told People. “But at the same time, [you’re] also wanting to kind of add something new to a franchise. Why can’t they bring out more agents or more 00’s? I think that would be so much more fun, because there just isn’t the restraints and the expectation… Maybe I’m just a p****… But I think I would love it so much more if there wasn’t that overhanging cultural pressure.”
Villeneuve promised that his Bond adaptation would honor the British icon. “Some of my earliest moviegoing memories are connected to 007,” he recalled (per The Hollywood Reporter). “I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr. No with Sean Connery. I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory. I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor.”
James Bond 26 currently does not have an official release date.
