HAMPDEN, Maine — A friendly goose that was found walking along Main Road North in Hampden has made it home safely, according to Hampden Public Safety.

Police joked that while the goose looked “cranky,” it had a “heart of gold.”

As much as the department enjoyed the unexpected visitor, they said the droppings and feathers would be a slip hazard — and they didn’t want to deal with the paperwork.

Hampden Public Safety first asked for help finding the goose’s owner, then confirmed Saturday morning that the bird was back home where it belonged.
