James Gunn confirmed that a beloved children’s film is one of his favorite. Apparently, the director is partial to Paddington 2.
While filming a video for the French outlet Konbini, Gunn listed off his favorite films and one of them was a beloved children’s classic. This might have come as a surprise to those who remember Gunn’s distinctly past as a Troma movie director, but the director has changed course over the decades. One of his favorite movies, he shared in the video, was Paddington 2.

James Gunn says that the lowest-rated film he’s directed is also one of his favorites.
“Paddington 2 is a classic film. It’s one of the greatest movies ever made,” Gunn said. “People think that I’m being ironic when I say that. I am not. I am absolutely telling the truth.”
Gunn is far from alone in his Paddington 2 fan club. The movie is considered not just one of the best children’s films, but one of the best films of the past decade. It has an incredible 99% on Rotten Tomatoes – it was 100% until one negative review brought it down – and critics rave about it. When it first came out, every aspect of it was praised, especially Hugh Grant’s performance as smarmy villain Phoenix Buchanan.

Paddington Has Something In Common With Superman
Like Superman, Paddington Bear is considered to be an immigrant, and both are known to don red-and-blue attire. Just as Paddington 2 had “something serious to say about making the world a better place through daily acts of kindness,” so does Superman. In an interview with the Times (via IGN) Gunn said that Superman was “about kindness” and the main character was “a guy who is uniquely good.” He went on to say that the story was one of”an immigrant that came from other places and populated the country, but for me it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost.“That’s exactly what people got out of Paddington 2 as well.Paddington 2 is streaming now on Disney+.Source:Konbini
