The 2025 edition of Wimbledon has drawn to a close with Jannik Sinner emerging as the champion of the men’s singles event.
The Italian player flexed why he’s the world number one by defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the final.
Sinner came through a semi-final with Novak Djokovic to reach his first final and then lift his maiden title at the All England Club.
One player who was absent from this year’s event was Nick Kyrgios.
Injury prevented the Australian from taking part as a player, whilst none of the broadcasters picked him up as a regular pundit, which felt like a bit of a shame.
Now, he’s made a big suggestion about his future in the game of tennis…

Fans will be gearing up to watch Kyrgios in action as he makes a return to tennis during the US swing.
The Wimbledon 2022 finalist will enter the US Open using a protected ranking after two years out injured but it would appear that those fans heading to his games should cherish the moments.
In an interview with Patrick Mouratoglou on the UTS Tour podcast, he’s claimed that he doesn’t think he will be playing much longer.
He said: “I was just on the practice court and my right knee had a bit of a niggle and I can’t play the grass season but I am going to play Washington and the US swing, it’ll be good.
“There’s not much left, I don’t think there’s much tennis left. My body can’t take too much of it.”
Kyrgios admitted that he was still going to enjoy playing tennis but conceded that his days of competing with the best players look slim.
He continued: “I am going to get healthy, hopefully play this year and then we will see what happens, but I can’t play for much longer, I don’t think.
“It’s hard, the training. It’s easy to play the match but it’s the everyday training, the travel, that is the toughest bit.
“It’s fun (to play the matches), but right now I can’t train for two months without [getting injured]. When you start training and get injured, that’s when it’s not fun any more.
“That is like Rafa too, I felt towards the end, he could not train for two weeks without having a little injury and it’s like you can’t ever play matches.
“There are so many rallies now. Even the big guys have to rally now. What chance do I have of rallying against Sinner?
“The courts are slow now. It’s hard for the big guys.”
Tennis needs characters like Kyrgios
The player has had his moments on tour during his career, but it’s hard to suggest that he doesn’t bring something to the sport of tennis.
Kyrgios leaves everything on the court and who can forget him barking emotionally towards his box when he trailed Djokovic in the Wimbledon final of 2022.
When the time does come for Kyrgios to call time on his playing career, there might be a tinge of regret.
Although he reached a Grand Slam final and won a Grand Slam title at the Australian Open playing doubles, he probably should have achieved more.
Still, Kyrgios’ enthusiasm for the game of tennis and ability to wear his heart on his sleeve will absolutely be missed when the curtain comes down on his career.
