PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A woman was taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon after crews rescued her from Piestewa Peak.
Firefighters said they were called out to the famous mountain near 24th Street and Lincoln Drive around 2 p.m. Crews found the hiker about a quarter of the way up the mountain.
She said she was feeling dizzy and couldn’t continue her hike, firefighters said.

Firefighters used what they call a “Big Wheel,” which is basically a stretcher on a single wheel like a wheelbarrow, to get her off the rugged terrain.
She was taken to the hospital for more treatment, but firefighters didn’t say what her condition was.
The rescue happened around the same time as another woman suffered a medical emergency near the summit of Camelback Mountain and was flown off the mountain. Firefighters offered to take her to the hospital, but she refused.
