If you step outside this time of year, it is almost painfully obvious it is summertime. We wanted to make sure you’re making the most of your Philly summer. With all of the festivals, events and concerts going on, it can be hard to know what to set aside time for.
We created a roundup of Philly events for the rest of the summer so you can fill out your schedule!
Festivals
Saturday, July 19 – Summer Ale Festival at the Philadelphia Zoo
Visit the Philadelphia Zoo for the “wildest” beer festival in Philly on Saturday, July 19. The adults-only event will feature hard seltzers, craft beers, ciders, food trucks and live music (and, of course, zoo animals and attractions). Tickets are $84 and the event lasts from 7 to 10 p.m. (with taps closing at 9:30 p.m.).
Thursday, July 31 to Sunday, August 3 – BlackStar Film Festival
This celebration of Black, Brown and Indigenous filmmaking will be held in person in Philadelphia this year. The festival will feature shorts, documentaries, experimental films and features from filmmakers all around the world. Tickets range from $7.50 to $18 per film, and will be held at various locations. Sunday, August 3 – 2nd Street Fest
Northern Liberties’ annual street festival brings visitors and residents together to enjoy NoLibs businesses, restaurants, vendors, artists and musicians. It’s free to attend, and it lasts from noon to 10 p.m.
Friday, August 15 to Sunday, August 17 – Philadelphia Folk Festival
This annual weekend festival features folk musicians and singer-songwriters from around the country. The festival promotes music discovery with “safe and family-friendly” activities, including camping, food trucks, educational workshops, vendors and activities. Adult tickets start at $80 and scheduling/timing for the concert varies.
Saturday, August 23 – Vegandale Festival
Enjoy vegan food and art, entertainment, music and drinks at the traveling vegan festival “Vegandale.” The festival’s mission is to celebrate a “world free of animal exploitation.” The festival in Navy Yards will feature food, drink and merch trucks, as well as interactive art and entertainment. Tickets range from $15 to $40.
Through Sunday, August 31 – Chinese Lantern Festival
Philadelphia’s ongoing Chinese Lantern Festival features everything from lanterns and a live light display to art, dumpling making and food/drinks each night. The festival runs every night from 6 to 11 p.m., and advanced tickets are required. The festivities take place at Franklin Square Park.
Thursday, September 4 to Sunday, September 28 – Philadelphia Fringe Festival
This art festival will feature hundreds of performances across the city intended to spark innovation and creativity. The lineup features everything from a “Carnival of Feelings,” where participants can play simple games while exploring feelings, to “Fracture,” an evening-length dance performance focusing on the patriarchy and how femininity is forced to adapt to various societal standards. Events and performances are held at various times and have various prices.
Through Saturday, October 25 – PECO Multicultural Series at Cherry Street Pier & Spruce Street Harbor Park
The PECO Multicultural Series highlights various, diverse Philly communities with music, dance, food, vendors and more. These free celebrations vary in time and location, but a few are listed below:

Markets/Events
Saturday, July 19 & Saturday, August 16 – Philadelphia Flea Market at Headhouse Square
Go vintage and explore this collection of local vendors that will feature clothing, furniture, art and more in Society Hill’s Headhouse Square. There will be two more summer markets on Saturdays throughout the next two months, both from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit to find your next antique or vintage clothing purchase, or window shop at your leisure!
Friday, August 8 to Sunday, August 10 – Liberty Comic Con at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center
This comic convention will give anime lovers and comic book connoisseurs a place to meet various comic writers and actors, shop from related vendors and interact with other cosplayers! Ticket prices range from $25 to $140.
Saturday, August 9 & Sunday, August 10 – Bug Fest
Join the Academy of Natural Sciences in August to learn more about bugs with a variety of family-friendly activities! Watch a roach race, where you can cheer on your favorite cockroach as it tests its speed on different tracks and roads with obstacles, or ask scientists/experts your burning questions about insects or how to get into the bug field. The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday (with a special film presentation at 3:15 p.m. Sunday). Tickets are $22 for non-member adults and $18 for non-member children.
Saturday, August 23 – The Philly Bookstore Crawl
Book lovers or novice readers can indulge in the third annual celebration of Philly’s bookstore scene on Saturday, August 23. On this day, participating bookstores around town will be hosting unique events, offering discounts and providing giveaways. The crawl is self-guided and there is no specific route, but check out this listing of participating shops in your area.
Friday, September 19 to Sunday, September 21 – Rittenhouse Square Fine Arts Show
Enjoy original art, jewelry, sketches and glassware from various Rittenhouse artists at the mid-September Rittenhouse Square Fine Arts Show. The event will feature work by over 100 artists and vendors. The event website has updates and more information.
Through Saturday, October 26 (Saturdays and Sundays) – Southeast Asian Market at FDR Park
Don’t miss out on South Philly’s seasonal popup market! It features Southeast Asian cuisine from the city – including Lao, Khmer, Thai, Vietnamese and Indonesian options. The market also has vendors with culturally specific produce, and jewelry, clothing and art. For the market’s most updated days, check their website. The market is open most Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the exception of local race days or Eagles home game days. Some vendors are cash only and there is no ATM, so don’t forget to have some money in hand!
Through October – Parks on Tap
Check out Philly’s “traveling beer garden,” which brings drinks and food to parks and green spaces around the city, rotating locations each week. The event will be held in various neighborhoods through October. You can find more information here.
Sports
Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27 – Savannah Bananas at Citizens Bank Park
The iconic minor league baseball team known for its TikTok fame and shenanigans will be playing the Texas Tailgaters at Citizens Bank Park at the end of July. Experience the show tunes, choreographed dances and fun entrances – plus, an appearance by former Phillie star Ryan Howard. Get tickets here.
Through September – Phillies
Catch a home game at Citizens Bank Park during the week or weekend sometime this summer! Head over and soak up some sun, enjoy some ice cream or a pretzel and cheer on Philly’s home team through the end of September — and hopefully deep into October!
Through October – Philadelphia Union Soccer
Enjoy a soccer match at Subaru Park on various dates until October. Philly’s Major League Soccer club, which is having a strong season, will host several more games this season – for huge fans or novice appreciators alike. Get your tickets here.
