The Oklahoma Sooners are back to expanding their 2027 recruiting class. Sione Felila out of out of Hesperia (Calif.) Oak Hills has announced via social media his official OU pledge.
Felila becomes the 20th member of Oklahoma’s 2027 commit class. He’s the ninth defensive player to pledge and the fourth defensive lineman of the group. More specifically, Felila is OU’s third defensive tackle of the haul.
Felila chooses Oklahoma over BYU, Arizona State, Cal and Kansas. He’d been set to take some official visits over the summer, but decided against it and chose to shut his process down early. Felila goes with OU on an offer sheet that features 18 programs in total.
According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, the world of recruiting combines to see Felila as the No. 723 overall recruit in the 2027 recruiting class. The three-star also rates as the No. 81 overall defensive lineman nationally and a top-60 player in the state of California.
As for 247Sports’ rankings, though, our panel of national experts are even higher on Felila’s abilities. There he checks in as the No. 549 overall talent of the ’27 cycle. The high three-star with a strong 88 player grade is also considered the the No. 69 defensive front liner across the country. Felila is 247Sports’ No. 47 prospect inside the talented Golden State.
Felila stands at 6-foot-2 and 285-pounds. During the 2025 season as a junior, he reportedly totaled 45 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery. In 2024 as a sophomore, Felila notched 32 tackles, four tackles for loss, three sacks and one forced fumble.
Felila got his Oklahoma offer back in February of 2026. From that point forward, he became one of the Sooners’ highest priorities at defensive tackle.
Felila plays as part of even front at Oak Hills. A knack for altering the line of scrimmage at the prep level, Felila plays with power but his balance is noticeable. A strong base that allows him to anchor and play double teams well, when on the move he’s coordinated and in control. Nothing to discount with the level of disruption he’s able to create playing the run or rushing the passer. Natural awareness of the leverage and angles battle, Felila overwhelms opponents off the snap. A high-floor prospect who’s a clear scheme fit for the Sooners, it’s easy to see why Oklahoma chose to invest into this recruitment.
Felila now joins an interior defensive line group in ’27 that includes four-star Elija Harmon and three-star Deven Robertson. A solid trio for the Sooners who bolster their top-ranked 2027 class.
