Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 7.While the Multiverse Saga is set to wind down with Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, Daredevil: Born Again has just introduced a new superhero team to the MCU. Matt Murdock has been working hard to get a group of vigilantes to join forces with him in his mission to fight Kingpin and the Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF).
However, while searching for new blood, Charlie Cox appears to have had surprising luck in bringing back a familiar crew that previously appeared in the Netflix Marvel Universe. Of course, there are a few new additions, like Angela del Toro as the White Tiger, but as recent episodes have shown, Daredevil’s strongest alliances appear to be his oldest friends.
Daredevil: Born Again Is Bringing The Defenders Back Together

Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones was prominently positioned as a major new addition in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, and her appearance on the show led to a lot of speculation about whether the rest of The Defenders would show up in Hell’s Kitchen after their unceremonious end in the Marvel Netflix shows.
And while Luke Cage has been confirmed to be on a mission for Mr. Charles, as seen when Jessica confronts him about her partner, Danny Rand has been completely absent from the series. However, some early set photos from Daredevil: Born Again season 3 have seen Mike Colter, who plays Luke Cage, and Finn Jones, who plays Danny Rand, both appearing alongside Ritter in the upcoming season.
The reunion is unlikely to happen in season 2, but with the confirmation of these actors being on set for the next season, it’s clear that the plan is to reunite The Defenders and place them inside the MCU, making them the latest addition to the growing roster of heroes joining the MCU throughout the Multiverse Saga.
Avengers: Doomsday Will See Several Superhero Teams Collide
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be one of the biggest crossover events in cinematic history, with dozens of characters all confirmed to appear in the film, along with several more that have yet to be announced. And ahead of the film’s release, the MCU has introduced several different teams who are all set to collide ahead of the conflict with Doctor Doom.
Not only will several members of the original Avengers team return, including Thor and Steve Rogers, but a new Avengers team is also being organized under the leadership of Sam Wilson as Captain America. Then, there is also The New Avengers, which consists of the heroes who appeared in The Thunderbolts*.
These will also be joined by heroes from other realities, such as the Fox X-Men and The Fantastic Four, who debuted in the recent MCU film but were living on Earth-828. Then there are speculative teams that could appear, such as The Young Avengers and The Guardians of the Galaxy. With so many new heroes, it feels unlikely that The Defenders will also be appearing in Avengers: Doomsday.
The Street Level Heroes Have Dominated The Multiverse Saga

As much as it appears unlikely that The Defenders will have a role to play in Avengers: Doomsday, the Multiverse Saga has been an incredible era for street-level heroes. Not only did Daredevil debut in the MCU, and Spider-Man is set to shift his focus to take on more of a Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man angle, but others like Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight have also joined the MCU with a focus on their solo stories.
Avengers: Doomsday was recently confirmed to be a sequel to Avengers: Endgame, which could suggest that very little of the Multiverse Saga will have an impact on its events, but it also means many of the new arrivals could have space for their stories to develop independently of the wider cinematic universe.
Now that The Defenders are officially joining the MCU, it’s not clear where their story will take them, and how the events of Avengers: Doomsday could impact them, but there is also time in season 3, which is due to come out in 2027, which could open the door to these characters moving from Daredevil: Born Again into Avengers: Secret Wars, but that’s purely speculative.
