Liberty High School names Catherine Nance as head girls basketball coach

BEDFORD, Va. (WFXR) – Liberty High School has named Catherine Nance as the new head girls basketball coach, and it’s a big moment for someone who already knows the program well.

Coach Nance has been part of Liberty’s girls basketball program for the past six years. She spent time as a varsity assistant coach and also led the middle school team, helping younger players grow and prepare for the next level. She’s also coached AAU basketball, working with some of the same players now on the high school team.

What makes this even more special is that Nance is a Liberty High School graduate herself, so stepping into this role is a bit of a homecoming.

School leaders say they’re excited to have her take over. She takes over a program that’s recently come off a strong season with a run to the state quarterfinals. With her experience and strong connection to the school, Coach Nance is ready to lead the team into its next chapter.
