The Kansas City Chiefs may have found their latest diamond in the rough by signing former Indiana Hoosiers offensive lineman Kahlil Benson after a successful tryout at the team’s rookie camp.

A member of the Hoosiers’ 2025 CFP National Championship roster, Benson saw action in 49 games as a collegian between stints in Indiana (2022-2023, 2025) and with the Colorado Buffaloes (2024).

Set to turn 24 years old in August, Benson’s relative experience could translate to early success in the NFL under the direction of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid.

Take a look at the team’s announcement of Benson’s signing, which was posted to Twitter on May 4:

Veteran quarterback Jake Haener — once slated to be a backup for star signal-caller Patrick Mahomes next season — was among the players who were waived to make room for Benson on Kansas City’s 90-man roster.

Stay tuned to Chiefs Wire for more updates about Benson as Kansas City’s offseason program continues over the next few months.
