Earlier this week, NY1 political anchor Errol Louis spent time with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the Bronx.
Her office secured $1 million in federal dollars for the Thrive for Life Prison Project, which is pledging to expand its vocational education and workforce training program at Abraham House in Mott Haven.
Thrive for Life also runs the Ignacio House in Manhattan in addition to Abraham House — both designed to reduce recidivism by empowering formerly incarcerated New Yorkers with tools and resources like food, education and temporary housing.
NY1 spoke more about how the federal funding will help Abraham House with Sebastian Budinich, the director of program operations at Thrive for Life.
