The provincial government has issued a flood watch for Humber River, Deer Lake and surrounding communities.
Water levels are expected to remain elevated for the next few days due to mild temperatures, melting snow and ongoing precipitation.
Residents who live on the waterfront or low-lying areas are encouraged to stay alert and aware of changing conditions, and be prepared to evacuate should water levels continue to rise.
The town of Deer Lake will provide updates through the Voyent Alert app as required.
