Most little kids are curious about animals, but this little girl may have gotten a whole lot closer to an Armadillo than she planned. The armadillo was hiding underneath Rebecca Cook’s car when her young daughter bent down to get a better look.

Things quickly took a chaotic turn, though, when the armadillo tried to make a run for it and accidentally got tangled underneath the little girl’s Disney Princess pajama dress in the process. The unexpected moment had everyone involved screaming, and the rest of us rewatching the video more than once.

We laughed when Rebecca said that her daughter’s curiosity was at Level 100, but her survival skills were at zero.

In the caption, she said, “Daddy scarred her forever,” and exactly nobody could disagree with that. One viewer said after watching Rebecca’s video, “Armadillos are adorable and harmless.” That may be so, but nobody wants one under their dress!

We laughed when @Carmen joked, “We all want to be a Disney princess until we have to be a Disney princess lol!”

Why Armadillos Panic and Run When Startled

Armadillos are shy, docile animals with poor eyesight, and they generally try to avoid humans whenever possible. Being trapped under a car while surrounded by people probably terrified this poor armadillo, which is why it suddenly bolted in an attempt to escape.

When startled, armadillos tend to panic first and figure things out later. Their natural instinct is to run for cover, burrow, or wedge themselves into tight spaces to escape danger.

All South Pest Control notes that when an armadillo feels threatened, it may even jump straight up into the air to startle whatever scared it and create an opportunity to escape.

The company also explains that armadillos are not aggressive by nature and generally don’t want to hurt people or pets. If you spot one around your home, they recommend calmly observing it from a safe distance and avoiding any attempts to touch, feed, or interact with it.

As All South Pest Control puts it, “A hands-off approach is best for both your safety and the animal’s well-being.”
