PHOENIX — The body of an Arizona man was pulled from the Colorado River on Thursday night, authorities said.

The Bullhead City Police Department identified 51-year-old Thomas Michael McCluney of Bullhead City as the man who was pulled from the river.

Bullhead City boating officers responded to a beach in the area of Moser Avenue and Sixth Street around 5:30 p.m.

McCluney was reportedly pulled from the river after going under water while attempting to float on a raft with a friend.

Life-saving measures were administered but McCluney was pronounced dead after being transported to Western Arizona Regional Medical center.

Bullhead City Police said that the drowning appears to have been accidental.

The department noted that McCluney was not wearing a life jacket.
