A long-vacant former real estate office in Del Mar has been transformed into an expansive nursery and gift shop, with an inviting cafe at its center. The new Terra Bella Nursery and Selva Coffee opened on May 1 in Del Mar Shopping Center on Via de la Valle, immediately becoming a destination for plant lovers and green thumbs.
Like Terra Bella’s other locations in the Midway District and South San Diego, the exterior is painted with eye-catching dark floral murals. Inside, a neon sign at the front counter aptly reads “Welcome to the jungle” as foliage fills almost every surface of the sprawling 8,827-square-foot pink-hued facility with cascading tendrils of plants like Vinca major dangling from the ceiling. Outside, rows and rows of plants, flowers, trees, succulents, pots and planters can be found.

A unique feature of the plant nursery, Selva Coffee House serves up specialty coffee, matcha and tea drinks. Creatively crafted concoctions include the Mothertrucker, a pistachio white mocha, the Daydream lavender matcha, and the Bee Yourself with honey, cinnamon, espresso and vanilla cloud cream. For “Selva Nights,” the cafe will stay open late, serving up mocktails with live dj entertainment from 7-11 p.m.
In addition to the coffee, Selva’s menu includes pastries, sandwiches and burritos that can be enjoyed at the cafe tables set at the center of the nursery, surrounded by greenery.
